Tuesday,4th of March 2025 In the presence of Shifa Barzani and Alan Hama Said, the Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, as well as the president and members of the Kurdish Expatriate Confederation, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and the Kurdish Expatriate Confederation at (Barzani Namir Educational Complex). In this memorandum, the Ministry of Education takes an important historical step in cooperation with the Confederation to achieve the following:
1.All schools abroad that voluntarily work to teach Kurdish language to Kurdish children living abroad can contact the Confederation to annually receive Kurdish language textbooks from the Ministry of Education, which will be printed and posted to them at the government’s expense.
2.All educational centers abroad can submit their teachers and students data to the Ministry via the Confederation. This data will be integrated into the Ministry of Education’s digital system, and usernames and passwords will be provided, allowing them to benefit from all educational services, such as:
•E-Classes (online lessons),
•E-Training (for teacher development),
•E-Family (guidance for families),
•E-Library (the Ministry’s digital library),
•E-Evaluation (the Ministry’s application for homework, grades, evaluations, and class schedules),and any other digital services offered by the Ministry.
3.Utilising the technology at (Barzani Namir Educational Complex), Kurdish language teachers have been appointed for any individual living abroad who wishes to learn Kurdish at any time that suit them. Coordination will be arranged, and their children will learn writing, reading, and speaking in Kurdish. Instruction will be provided in the Sorani and Badini dialects, as well as in Latin script, according to the preference of the participants based on their “mother dialect.”
4.All students at schools abroad, whether attending physically or enrolled online (particularly those without a nearby Kurdish school), will receive a language center certificate from the (Barzani Namir Educational Complex) upon completing their learning process. This certificate is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
5.The Ministry of Education will provide online and electronic training for all teachers in schools abroad and issue official certificates in this field.
A note of gratitude is extended to the educators abroad who, for many years, have selflessly and voluntarily worked to teach the Kurdish mother language to the second and third generations of Kurds living abroad. Now, we affirm that the Kurdistan Regional Government will support you and officially organize this process, offering you a variety of services.
We also kindly request that schools abroad get in touch with the Confederation to participate in and benefit from this process.
